There is something so beautiful about the carcass

of the bug on my bathroom floor:

Crisp and brittle.

A delicate, empty husk that once contained life.

Leftover.

Shiny and sleek.

 So still,

 so intricate.

You can finally appreciate

its prismatic colours

When it is dead

on its back.

I wonder why

People think bugs are scary.

I wonder if

its stillness is peaceful

I wonder why

people fear death.

This is an Ode

to the dead bug on my bathroom floor.

I hope it lived a good life.

If only I noticed its beauty

Before it was dead.
